The community’s budget was not built to handle the closing and reopening of the rec center during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This 543-unit master association located in Pleasanton, California has been managed by Associa Northern California since 2019. The community is a mix of condos, townhomes, and single-family homes and has a large state-of-the-art rec center with a gym, pool, spa, banquet hall, kitchen, conference room, and lounge areas.
The community’s brand-new rec center had to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and members were very upset about the closure. The rec center was eventually able to reopen under certain restrictions, but the community’s budget was not built to handle the closing and reopening.
Associa Northern California helped the community use TownSq to manage amenity reservations and liability forms. The management team then evaluated the community’s budget and determined the board could hire the on-site maintenance/janitorial employee that was needed to reopen. This person would be able to check members in and out while ensuring the community adhered to the county’s COVID guidelines. The planned set-up was successful, and the rec center was able to partially reopen under the new guidelines quickly thanks to Associa Northern California’s fast action.
